35,000 feet over North Dakota, Flight 231 from BWI to SEATAC. A weaver and a Surgeon with his charming wife discussed weaving, and the ancient arts of Russian and Aleut cultures. A collaboration occurred, the Surgeon placing his precise knots into the work, expertely. Well, he said he was paid by the hour. I said I was paid by the inch. Now, when viewed as a whole, the surgeon's knots are jaunty and add charm to a contemporary Aleut basket.
